My Day

What I do:

I‘m involved in determining the benefits, pricing, and setting rates for the benefit plans we offer to the Medicare eligible population. I’m also involved in the regulatory filings with the Federal Government to support our pricing.

The unique aspects of this job:

Our job in Ovations Underwriting is unique in that we are working with the Federal Government to help provide health care to the Medicare eligible population, which brings the unique aspects of working within the regulatory environment.

What it takes to be successful:

Strong communication skills are a must.  First, the company is spread across the country, as well as, our department, so communication takes various forms: email, conference calls, etc. Second, we are providing information to several different customers where we need clear and concise communication.  Flexibility is also a necessity.  The health care industry is a changing industry and our company must continually change its processes and products to meet the needs of the health care purchasers. Lastly you should be attentive to detail. Thoroughness and accuracy are important in modeling my various benefit plans and reviewing my regulatory filings.
